Born in 1968 in then-communist East Germany, Michael Moebius was inspired to start drawing cartoons upon finding a passion for art at an early age. He is known for his famous bubblegum portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, DavidBowie, Queen Elizabeth, and other popular culture icons.
Moebius’ interest was peaked further when, while studying architectural illustration, he happened upon a book featuring Alberto Vargas’ pinups. It was then Moebius decided he would pursue his passion for art and so he began studying at the Academy of Arts in Dresden. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Moebius was able to move to the United States in 1998, which was a pivotal move in his career. Upon relocating to America, Moebius worked with the likes of Playboy, Proctor & Gamble,Vogue, Vanity Fair and Laura Biagiotti, among others.
