Debuting his first-ever solo exhibition, Cory Van Lew’s ‘Blue Faces’ will introduce an intimate and sincere reflection of various aspects of his life. The bright and psychedelic works of art explore themes that include black life, happiness, fraternity and reinventing the visual representation of Black Americans.

“The artwork is centered on my newfound happiness, Black excellence in life, and my relationship with my brother Andre. Everything I want to say is in the paintings, and I want the characters in my paintings to be completely pure. I want you to see their souls and see them as God-like beings.” Van Lew said. “In one of my favorite pieces, I recreated myself trimming my brother’s dreads. It’s about more than just a haircut though. It’s about the amazing bond and trust we have for one another. I want to promote that kind of relationship and inspire other people, especially in the black community.”
